Ogden Utah Weber Stake 2015 Trek Equipment Packing List
This list is provided to help you gather the gear you will need to be a successful pioneer. Because of the weight and space limitations of our handcart design and our attempt to create an authentic pioneer experience, you will be limited in the amount of gear you can bring. You will need the items listed here, but please don't bring anything else. We cannot take it with us.
**DON’T FORGET…FIRST DAY OF TREK- EAT BREAKFAST AT HOME AND BRING A LUNCH WITH YOU!!**
All items must fit inside one 5-Gallon bucket. This bucket and lid (screw-on preferred) will be provided by your ward, along with the assigned company color duct tape to label your bucket with. If your ward needs to procure 5 Gallon buckets and screw-on lids, please contact Dan Butters 801-502-6563.
Everyone should bring:
Warm pajamas or sweats
Thermal base layer to wear if the weather is on the cool side
1 pair sturdy, well broken-in shoes for hiking (do not bring new shoes or worn out shoes with holes in them)
1 extra pair of shoes or water shoes that can get wet (no flip flops)
4 pair of sturdy socks
1 pair thin, opaque socks or knee-high nylons to wear under sturdy socks to prevent blisters (optional)
1 rain poncho
1 pillow case (use to make a pillow out of your coat)
20 oz. water bottle (not disposable-You will be carrying this with you and refilling it on the trail)
Personal hygiene items- Place in separate quart Ziploc bag -label with your name
lotion, deodorant, soap
small hand towel or pre-moistened wipes for face and hands
toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss
comb or brush
hand sanitizer and tissues
Eye glasses should be worn instead of contacts, as dusty conditions will exist and it is difficult to care for contacts in a wilderness setting.
Personal Items-Place in separate quart Ziploc bag – label with your name
Personal first-aid kit (5-10 band aids and moleskin for foot care)
Prescription medication, labeled in original pack (to be checked in with medical staff)
Insect repellent
Sunscreen (at least SPF20)
Sunglasses
Chap stick
1 old Book of Mormon, in a Ziploc bag
1 pen
1 flashlight with new batteries
1 pair leather gloves to protect hands while pulling handcart
1 large garbage bag to hold wet or dirty clothes
Pocket Knife (optional)
Women should bring:
2 mid-calf length skirts and 2 button down long sleeve blouses (no T-Shirts) OR 2 mid-calf length dresses with long sleeves.
Apron with deep pockets
2 Pantoloons-knee length to prevent chaffing. Knee shorts are also acceptable-NO JEAN CUTOFFS
1 set of underclothing for each day
1 bonnet
Feminine hygiene supplies
Men should bring:
2 pair of pants (Dockers, cargos or khakis -no jeans)
2 long-sleeved button down shirts-NO LOGO shirts
1 western-style hat (inexpensive straw hat works-no baseball or army hats)
1 set of underclothing for each day
1 old tie
Belt & suspenders (optional
Camping Equipment-ALL (bring camping equipment in garbage bags, double bagged and labeled with your name):
2 heavy-duty garbage bags (will hold your camping equipment)
A warm sleeping bag (+20 degree bag is recommended, as it is common for June snowstorms to occur in this area of Wyoming
Sleeping pad or mat
An old blanket
A good coat (not just sweatshirt, it will be cold in the mornings and evenings)
Please arrive wearing 1 set of your pioneer clothing; remember that this clothing must be sturdy, as it will be subject to heavy use.
Optional Items & Information:
• NO cell phones or other electronic devices
• Please do not bring any valuables such as jewelry, electronics, etc.
Ma and Pa Equipment List
Ma’s and Pa’s please bring the following items:
All of the items listed above on the Packing List
(1)-10 Gallon water cooler for your handcart
(2)-6 Person tents Sturdy Springbar style tents with long metal tent stakes for your family (1 Boys and 1 Girls tent)
1 Medium rectangular cooler for lunches
(1)-2 person tent for Ma and Pa lodging (Springbar style tent with long metal tent Sturdy stakes)
(4)-Tarps to be used under the tent and to cover the handcart in the event of inclement weather and dusty conditions
Rope (20 feet), bungee cords, etc to lash down tarp on handcart and 2 pair of extra leather gloves for pulling handcart
Claw hammer for installing and removing metal tent stakes, pocket knife and leatherman multitool.
(2) Headlight Flashlights with extra batteries (LED style best for battery life)
5 Gallon bucket lid opened, tied to one of the buckets, if your ward uses press-on lids. Screw on lids preferred.
Small hand mirror and toilet paper. Extra feminine hygiene products (in case YW are not prepared)

Small First Aid kit (should contain: Bandaids, moleskin, neosporin, Tylenol, sun screen, hand sanitizer).
1 Roll Duct Tape-assigned company color
Snack bucket-empty 5 Gal bucket
